We are excited to share that Evmos is now #RedStonePowered! If you are thinking about building a data-powered dApp and want to combine EVM convenience with Cosmos interoperability — Evmos + RedStone is now the way to go. Let’s take a closer look!
What is Evmos?
Evmos is bringing the world of Ethereum-based applications and assets to the interoperable networks of the Cosmos ecosystem, all while aligning developer and user incentives. Leveraging the Cosmos SDK, Evmos is one of the first IBC-compatible (Inter Blockchain Communication protocol) EVM-based blockchain, bringing composability, interoperability, and fast finality to Ethereum.
Cooperation with RedStone
RedStone now provides the Evmos community with a cutting-edge oracle solution for the applications within the Evmos ecosystem. We are also one of the first oracle providers to offer the $EVMOS price feed. Now Evmos applications will be able to interact with our diverse data feeds covering cryptocurrencies, NFTs, equities and much more. It doesn’t stop there as we will also provide custom data feeds tailored specifically to the applications’ needs. Non-standard data is our specialty and we want the Evmos builders to leverage it to the fullest. All of that will enable them to create use cases limited only by their imagination. On the other hand, simplifying EVM app development is at the core of the Evmos mission thus integrating RedStone is a step further in this direction.
Questions to the Evmos team
Q1. How did you get into the web3 space?
About Federico:
Federico Kunze Küllmer is Co-Founder of Evmos, a protocol designed to enable seamless interoperability between Ethereum and the IBC-enabled blockchains of the Cosmos ecosystem. This latest effort is part of his multi-year work building the foundations of the Internet of Blockchains, a new and hyper-scalable paradigm that sees blockchains as independent projects to be connected in a web. Fede has been a core contributor to a number of Cosmos projects including Tendermint, the Cosmos SDK, IBC, Gravity Bridge and Sommelier and has been building in the blockchain space since 2017 when he was an exchange student at UC Berkeley, where he joined Blockchain at Berkeley.
About Akash:
Akash Khosla is a Co-Founder of Evmos — a protocol designed to enable seamless interoperability between Ethereum and the IBC-enabled blockchains of the Cosmos ecosystem — and focuses on engineering, design and strategy. He’s been working on blockchain and cryptocurrencies since 2016 as a Software Engineer at Anchorage, Chain and Earn.com, in addition to contributing to open source projects like Interledger. Akash had been working with the Cosmos ecosystem at Anchorage and as a Co-Founder of Blockchain at Berkeley, the blockchain innovation hub where many of the original Cosmos developers started their careers.
About Nic:
Nic is an early contributor to Evmos, a protocol designed to enable seamless interoperability between Ethereum and the IBC-enabled blockchains of the Cosmos ecosystem. He has previously done engineering work at Google and Facebook and began working on open source blockchain projects in 2017 while an undergraduate at UC Berkeley.
Q2. What are the beginnings of Evmos?
Evmos is the community-driven culmination of the Ethermint project. In early 2021, the Cosmos Hub governance community approved a grant to the Tharsis team, led by Federico Kunze Küllmer, to develop Ethermint, a new codebase for an EVM-compatible Cosmos chain that would open tangible and collaborative use cases around composability, interoperability and fast-finality with the EVM. Upon the completion of this work, Tharsis next turned its attention to bringing Ethermint to life as Evmos and successfully launched on mainnet in April 2022.
